The Yoga "converts from normal notebook … to tablet mode". The Retina MBPs have two Thunderbolt ports, and a HDMI port, and people using the 15" Retina MBP have claimed that it can support two large (27" to 30") displays plus a lower-resolution 24" display. The Yoga and the Retina MBPs have IPS screens (desirable). The Yoga has integrated graphics I didn't look up the CPU part numbers to determine the number of cores for each option. The 13" Macs have dual-core CPUs and integrated graphics. The 15" Macs have quad-core CPUs and discrete graphics. On a 13" MacBook Air, you can get up to 512 GB, and on a 13" or 15" Retina MBP you can get up to 768 GB (though that option is pricey). The Yoga takes a maximum of 256 GB of flash storage. The 15" Retina MBP can take 16 GB of RAM and again it is important to configure this at order time. On the two Macs, the RAM is soldered-in, so it is important to configure 8 GB at order time. The Yoga, the 13" MBA, and the 13" Retina MBP are limited to 8 GB of RAM. (It is possible to custom-order a 15" non-Retina MBP with a 1650x1050 anti-glare screen.) The 1440x900 work area matches the native resolution of a base-model 15" non-Retina MBP. The 1280x800 work area matches the native resolution of a 13" non-Retina MBP.ġ5" Retina MBP : 2880x1800 resolution supports 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200 work areas. Your choice of a Yoga as the comparison machine suggests that you are looking for an UltraBook type device. a 1600X900 for photo browsing and photo editing? is it really worth the big difference? So my question is basically how drastic of a difference is the Retina display Vs. I've been recently getting into photography and I plan on playing around with Lightroom so I was wondering if the new Retina display on the MBP 13 is so great for photo browsing and photo-editing that it would justify me paying extra (in my case 500$ more) or should I just go for a Lenovo Yoga with pretty much the same specs except a 1600X900 screen.
